Single crystals are important for the fundamental understanding of the physics of the solid state. For many functionalities, however, the crystalline structure has to be modified, e.g., to tailor electronic properties. Here, defects are essential. Thus, the lecture will discuss the impact of point defects on electronic as well as transport properties.
